How to Remove Negative Energy from Your Life: Part 2

Happy Tuesday everyone!  This past weekend was a blur of basketball assessments, gymnastics meets, sleepovers, and running around, so I haven’t had a chance to post the second part of my tips on removing negative energy from your life.  If you missed Part I, you can check it out here.  Just a quick reminder that this article and others may include affiliate links and I will receive a small compensation if you click the links and make a purchase.  As always, I promise to only include links to products that I believe generate positive energy!image

We live in a very chaotic world that is completely comprised of energy–both positive and negative.  It is so easy to get caught up in the negative energy that surrounds us–be that from the news, television, electronics, negative people, unhealthy foods, etc. that we have to make a conscious effort to get rid of bad energy and replace it with positivity!  Have you ever instantly disliked someone as soon as you met them?  Likewise, what about those people who you instantly connect with?  Energy follows the principle that like attracts like, and the people you attract into your life are essentially a reflection of the state of energy that you are in.  Ever heard the saying, “Misery loves company?”  When you are putting off negative energy, you will attract more negative energy into your life–both in the people that you surround yourself with and the space that you inhabit.  Furthermore, you will repel positive energy and the people who radiate it.  When you consider how powerfully the law of attraction is at work in our lives, it reminds us just how important it is to remove negative energy from your life and replace it with positive vibes.

Today, I am inspired by a quote from livin3.com:

Remove Negative Energy from your life

This is such a true statement, and one that I think we could all use a little reminder of.  I don’t know about you, but sometimes I catch myself focusing on negative things in my life, and I totally forget that I have the power to choose to be positive and to view life through rose-colored glasses!  It’s like the old saying goes, “Perception is reality.”  The lens through which you decide to view your life completely colors how positive or negative you feel.  Chew on that food for thought, and in the meantime, start implementing the tips below to rid your life of negative energy and make way for an abundance of happiness and joy!

Get Rid of Clutter

The spaces in which you live and work are strong concentrations of your energy because of the sheer amount of time that you spend there.  For this, it is very important to take time to clear out these spaces and get rid of things that are holding on to negative energy. One of the quickest ways to get rid of negative energy in your home or work space is to get rid of clutter.  Removing clutter restores order and brings light to a space.  Light vibrates at a high frequency, and it instantly changes the vibes of the space that you are in.  Donate things you are no longer using, organize papers and mail, straighten up the pillows on your couch, and get rid of anything that you are not actively using or enjoying.

The technique of removing clutter can also be used in your brain.  Start “cleaning up” negative statements and thoughts by adding the word “but” and finishing the statement with something positive.  For example, if your thought is “I am not happy with my weight,” you can convert this negative thought to a positive one by adding, “but I am healthy and strong and I appreciate my body.”  By adding a positive spin to every negative thought that you have, you will quickly clear out negative brain clutter and feel so much happier and more positive.

Speak a Positive Affirmation

Prior to working for a holistic health practitioner, I really did not understand the power of positive affirmations.  I always thought that positive words were a good thing, but I didn’t know just how profoundly they affect your health.  When I was introduced to the research of Dr. Emoto and his experiments with rice and water, my understanding of the power of positive affirmations was changed forever.  Dr. Emoto devoted much of his life work to proving the power of human consciousness and showing how positive and negative affirmations change the molecular structure of water.  He also used rice to show the power of words and intention.  You can see in the photos below the difference that positive and negative affirmations have on water and cooked rice.

Water, when exposed to positive words and music, crystallizes into beautiful snowflakes. Negative words and music, on the other hand, have the opposite effect.

Below you can see the amazing affect of the positive affirmation “Thank you” on rice. After a number of days of continually positively affirming the rice, it stays white and mold-free.  The rice that was ignored and negatively affirmed turns black and moldy.

If our words can affect water and rice in this way, can you imagine how they affect our energy and the energy of those around us?!  These pictures are a powerful reminder of why we should be kind to ourselves and to others.  Taking time to love and appreciate who we are not only affects our mental health, but it also affects our physical state.  The rice experiment especially reminds me to keep my mental state positive so as not to provide an environment for cancer and other diseases to grow.

Speaking a positive affirmation can instantly change your energy and how you feel.  I have a multitude of positive affirmations taped to my computer and desk so that I can read them whenever I am feeling negative.  To remind yourself to speak positive affirmations, I suggest putting them on post-it notes wherever you spend a lot of time–your bathroom mirror, the refrigerator, on your desk, in the kitchen, by your bed, etc.  You will be amazed at the difference your positive words make!  Check out my positive affirmations by visiting my Pinterest board Affirmations.

Perform an act of Kindness

Performing an act of kindness is an excellent way to expunge negative energy and flood your life with positive vibes.  It’s really difficult to feel negative when you are doing something kind for another person, because kindness is an act of love, and love vibrates at the highest energetic frequency.  The higher your energy vibration, the more positive you will feel.  The next time you find yourself feeling negative, make the choice to do something kind for someone.  Check out some random acts of kindness below, and feel free to share your own ideas by commenting or emailing me!

Add living plants to your Space

Spending time outdoors is both rejuvenating and energizing, but unfortunately with jobs and obligations, most of us do not spend nearly enough time in nature!  You can bring nature indoors by adding a plant or two to your home or work space and still benefit from the positive energy the plants give off.  Not only do plants purify the air and put off life-giving oxygen, but they also help rid a space of negative energy.  Money trees are great plants to add to your space as they are symbols of good luck and fortune.  Other hardy indoor plants include orchids, ponytail palms, peace lilies, bamboo, and indoor palms. One thing to note with adding living plants to your space is that you should immediately remove any dead or dying plants as these generate negative energy.

I hope that you use these tips to rid your life of negative energy and make more space for joy and happiness in your life.  Remember, you can’t generate and spread positive energy if your thoughts, words, and actions are negative.  Implement these tips today and start seeing powerful positive changes in your life.  Namaste!
